- Functional Design The development of Airport Operations Control Centres is a reflection of the growing complexity of airport business processes, the interdependence of the many stakeholders in an airport environment, and the need to allocate and use resources efficiently. These strands come together in the need to plan, coordinate and manage airport operations in a central location, utilising integrated communications. There are challenges to the process and there could be constraints around the size, the layout, and, the technology infrastructure. Within a single AOCC facility, there could be multiple Command and Control Centers, viz, the Security Operations Control Center (SOCC), or the Emergency Response Center (ERC). Careful thought and planning is required in understanding the needs and requirements of these Control Centers to design a fully functional AOCC.
- Develop Operational specifications
- Develop workstation layouts
- Develop the layout for the Control Room
- Videowall GUI design
Here is what we do in the functional design:
- Business Process Blueprinting The Service involves carrying out a business process analysis, using industry standard process modelling tools to develop a process blueprint. Operational areas are prioritized in consultation with the Client and involves:
- Understanding the business processes within the organization, and the functional role of each system within the total process. This requires an understanding of the responsibilities, and standard operating procedures of each organization associated with operations, and of the various departmental responsibilities.
- Developing the business interaction model, “as-is” and “to-be” process flows. This process will help to identify the procedural changes needed to operate effectively.
- Standard Operating Procedures Our services around SOPs could be:
- Developing SOPs ground up and training the Airport staff on the new SOPs.
- Auditing, analyzing business processes and the SOPs that support them and suggesting/effecting updates to the SOPs.
